Former Creighton infielder Nicky Lopez was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
In exchange for the 28-year old Lopez, the Royals received lefty reliever Taylor Hearn.
Lopez was taken by KC in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB Draft and made his Major League debut three years later. Hearn is also 28 years old and was a fifth round pick in 2015 by the Washington Nationals.
He was acquired by the Braves for cash just last week after the Texas Rangers designated him for assignment. The Royals optioned Hearn to Triple-A Omaha.
Kansas City completed a three-game home sweep of Minnesota Sunday with a 2-1 win.
