Royals Relievers Help KC Record Second Straight Shutout
Kansas City’s bullpen helped the Royals post a second straight shutout last night, winning at Washington 3-0.
Starter Michael Lorenzen, who had just been activated off the IL, exited in the third inning with what the Royals later called “lower body fatigue.” Five relievers pitched 6 ⅔ innings of two-hit ball, with Daniel Lynch getting the win after working 2 ⅔ scoreless frames.
The Royals remain tied with Detroit for the second AL wild card spot. Kansas City remained two games in front of Minnesota in the wild card race. The Twins used a five-run seventh inning rally for an 8-3 win over Miami.
