Roden, Tebrake Selected Monday in MLB Draft

Creighton baseball’s Alan Roden was selected in the third round while his Bluejays teammate Dylan Tebrake went in round 8 of the Major League Baseball draft yesterday.
The Toronto Blue Jays took Roden, a first baseman-outfielder, with the 98th overall pick. Tebrake went to the New York Mets as the 239th overall selection.
Roden, the Co-Big East Player of the Year last spring, led Creighton with a .387 average, 75 hits and 25 doubles. The last time a CU player was drafted as high as the third round was in 1999, when the Cubs used their third-round pick on Ryan Gripp.
Tebrake, who won Big East Pitcher of the Year honors the past two seasons, went 8-2 with a 2.71 ERA last spring. He posted 115 strikeouts with just 33 walks in 93 innings.
