Rhule Wants Huskers to Be More Disciplined, Loose at the Same Time
After playing its first four games in Lincoln, the Nebraska football team hits the road for the first time this season on Saturday.
The Huskers will visit Purdue and are looking to bounce back from a 31-24 overtime loss to Illinois last Friday. Meeting with the media yesterday, coach Matt Rhule said NU’s defense needs to improve on its tackling and getting off blocks this week. Two underlying themes of his long news conference seem like the Huskers need to walk a fine line between playing more disciplined and playing loose.
“We’re just going to have to be more disciplined,” Rhule said. “That sounds like coach-speak, but it’s really, honestly where we’re at right now. These games get tight, and our team gets a little tight and they start doing uncharacteristic things. That’s my job, I have to find a way to get us over the hump.”
Saturday’s kickoff at Purdue is set for 11 a.m. Set your alarm for a 7 a.m. pregame show on News Talk 900 KJSK, or sleep in and join it at 10:30 on 93.5 The Hawk.
On Monday, the Big Ten announced kickoff times for next week. Nebraska’s Homecoming game on October 5th against Rutgers is set for a 3 p.m. kickoff with national TV coverage on FS1.
