Rhule Tips Cap to Prep Football Championship Teams in Lincoln
Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule started off his news conference yesterday by congratulating all the high school teams that made it to Lincoln for the state playoffs.
He said he wants young people across the state to dream of playing in Memorial Stadium whether it’s in a state championship or eventually with the Huskers. “One our our jobs is to nurture football, whether it’s the clinics that we do, youth camps that we do, hosting high school games – hosting all the smaller schools and colleges in the state, they all come over to us and visit us and watch practice,” Rhule said.
Also on Monday, Nebraska receiver Jacory Barney Jr. was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Barney had nine catches for 85 yards in NU’s 44-25 win over Wisconsin last Saturday. He also had a 45-yard kickoff return and an 11-yard run as he totaled 150 all-purpose yards.
The Huskers have a short week to prepare to play at Iowa on Friday. It’s a 6:30 p.m. kickoff and the game will be aired on News Talk 900 KJSK and 93.5 The Hawk.
