Rhule Mostly Liked O Execution, D Does Something Not Done Since ’39

Nebraska football became bowl eligible for the first time since 2016, snapping a 10-game losing streak to Wisconsin with a 44-25 home victory.

When asked about the Huskers’ improved offensive performance after the game, Coach Matt Rhule said there were “still a ton of plays that were left out there.”

“Dylan (Raiola) was really on and we ran the football really well,” Rhule said.  “Jacory (Barney Jr.) worked the middle of the field.  Emmett (Johnson) was the first 100-yard rusher of the season, but he was also catching the ball out of the backfield.  The tight ends showed up.  The ball went to where it was supposed to be.  We were able to protect the quarterback.”  But, he also pointed out: “When we executed, we scored.  When we didn’t execute, we struggled to score.”

Defensively, the Huskers did not allow a rushing touchdown Saturday, which was true for all seven home games this season.  It marks the first time since 1939 Nebraska did not give up a rushing TD at home.

Nebraska closes the regular season on Black Friday at Iowa.  Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.  The pregame starts at 2:30 p.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK.  It will be joined at 6 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
