Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule met with reporters yesterday to recap the season and look ahead.
He was asked if he feels a need to add a quarterback through the transfer portal. “We just kind of believe in doing things the old school way, the hard way, building,” Rhule said. “But, that doesn’t mean we won’t look at people in the portal. We did it last year, right? It just means they have to be clearly an impact player for us if they’re a one-year player, or they have to be someone who has multiple years to get in our program and develop.”
Rhule said everybody can look at the negatives like turnovers with this year’s quarterbacks. But, he sees a lot of positives saying Chubba Purdy has a “high ceiling” and noting that Heinrich Haarberg wasn’t even allowed in quarterback meetings last year.
