The NSAA today reportedly confirmed plans for prep fall sports to begin this month as scheduled.  However, the Omaha World-Herald report said it was indicated during the NSAA board of directors’ virtual meeting that Omaha metro area schools may want to push practices back to August 31st.

For most Nebraska schools, contests in softball and girls golf are set to begin on August 20th.  Some football teams will be in action on the 21st, with most starting a week later.  And August 27th is the start date for volleyball, boys tennis and cross country.

Omaha Public Schools is reportedly expected to announce whether it will have a fall sports season – and, if so, when it will start – this week.

That decision will impact Columbus High.  For instance, the Discoverers football team is slated to face two OPS foes: Omaha Central in its season opener on August 28th and Omaha Northwest on October 9th.
