Ag Park in Columbus is reportedly one of four horse racing tracks in Nebraska that have applied to host one-furlong sprints this fall.

A report in the Omaha World-Herald says that, if approved by the Nebraska Racing Commission, the short races would be run in October and November.

The report says Ag Park is hoping to run a sprint on four consecutive days, starting October 8th.  The one-furlong races would also be held at Atokad Park in South Sioux City on October 17th and 18th, Horsemen’s Park in Omaha from October 23rd through the 25th, and at Lincoln Race Course on November 2nd.

The four tracks had their regularly scheduled meets cancelled this year due to COVID-19.  The racing commission is set to consider the requests next Tuesday.
