Ruger Reimers and his younger brother Gunner both took gold medals back to Palmer from the Class D state wrestling tournament. 

Ruger, a senior, won the title at 145 pounds, a year after being crowned champion in D132.  Reimers finished this season with a 52-2 record and his career with a Class D record 207 career wins. 

Gunner Reimers, a Palmer junior, won the D195 title last night.

Two other area wrestlers competed for a gold medal, but wound up with silver.  Lane Bohac of East Butler lost 9-3 in the D113 championship to Elkhorn Valley’s Hunter Bennett, who finished 47-0.  And Justin Bayer of Howells-Dodge was the runner-up at 170 pounds.  He was pinned at 2:20 by Hi-Line’s Conner Schutz, who went 33-0. 

In the team standings, Plainview earned a three-peat gold medal with 110.5 points.  Palmer tied for second at 75, while East Butler tallied 55 to finish tenth. 

State wrestling begins today in Classes B and C and you can hear reports on KLIR 101 and KZ-100.
