Raiola Named Big Red’s Starting Quarterback for Season Opener

As most Nebraska football fans probably expected, the Dylan Raiola era will officially begin next Saturday.

NU announced today on X that the five-star freshman quarterback will get the start against UTEP in the August 31st season opener.  Raiola had been competing in fall camp against junior Heinrich Haarberg and freshman Daniel Kaelin.

Raiola flipped his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska in December, becoming one of Husker football’s highest-ranked recruits in history.  In the Red-White Spring Game, he was 16-of-22 passing for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

His father, Dominic Raiola, was an All-American center at Nebraska while his uncle, Donovan Raiola, is the Huskers’ offensive line coach.
