Prep Winter Sports Season Opens Today

The high school winter sports season gets underway today. 

Columbus High’s wrestling team is ranked second in NEwrestle.com’s preseason top 10 in Class A.  The Discoverers entertain Grand Island in a dual. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at Columbus High School.  The CHS swimming and diving team will host Fremont in a dual at 4:30 this afternoon.

The Lakeview basketball teams open their season on the road at Crete.  The Vikings girls are coming off an 18-8 season that included their first appearance in the state tournament since 1991. Lakeview’s boys were 8-15 last season. 

And the Scotus basketball clubs open at Hastings St. Cecilia tonight. The Shamrocks boys went 9-17 last year, while the Scotus girls were 10-12.
