HUMPHREY- The Platte County Sheriff’s Office will be beefing up traffic enforcement throughout October during the final phases of the highway construction project near Humphrey.

The construction project at the intersection of Highways 81 and 91 has been ongoing with hopes that the project be completed by mid-November. The Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a traffic enforcement grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety to assist with the heavy flow of traffic in the construction area. According to the Sheriff’s Office, even though the current speed limit in the area is 50 mph, some motorists are failing to acknowledge that speed limit, making the conditions unsafe for workers and other motorists.

The enforcement effort will be conducted during various hours of the day while construction is ongoing and until the work has been completed.
