Peters’ Arm, Bat Help Central City Survive and Advance at State
Starter Colbyn Peters fired a six-inning, complete game four-hitter and smacked a three-run homer to lead Central City to 8-0 win over host Holdrege Monday in the Senior Legion Class B state tournament.
Oliver Herman belted a solo home run and Colter Lueders stroked a two-run single in the top of the first to give Central City an early 3-0 lead. Peters worked out of jams in the first and third innings, then got stronger as the game went on to get the win. He also had three hits at the plate, including a three-run homer to straightaway center in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Central City, which had posted two close wins over Holdrege in an area tourney last week, stayed alive at state with a 2-1 record. They improved to 19-7 on the season. Today, Central City meets Wahoo in another elimination game at 3 p.m. You can hear the action on KZ-100.
