One Person Dead After Accident On Highway 30

RICHLAND- One person has died after an accident on Highway 30 east of Richland Thursday.

According to Colfax County Attorney Denise Kracl, the accident occurred near the intersection of Highway 30 and County Road A, 1.5 miles east of Richland. Around 7:30 a.m. a pickup driving westbound towards Columbus on Highway 30 hit a patch of black ice and lost control of the vehicle causing it to slide across the westbound lanes and then back eastbound. The pickup then struck the rear of a semi-trailer carrying an oversized load. The driver of the pickup, 39-year-old Carlos Adame of Schuyler was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver, 63-year-old Terry Greer of Arenzville, Illinois was uninjured.

The accident is being investigated.
