Ohio State Batters Open Floodgates, Rout Huskers in Big Ten Tourney

After heavy rainfall flooded the third base dugout at Omaha’s downtown ballpark and caused a six-hour delay on the opening day of the Big Ten baseball tournament, Ohio State opened the scoring floodgates with an eight-run fourth inning against Nebraska.

The outburst Tuesday night put the seventh-seeded Buckeyes ahead 11-0 and they cruised to a 15-2 romp over the second-seeded Huskers with the 10-run rule applied after seven innings.

NU fell to 34-20 and will meet No. 6 seed Purdue, which is 33-23 tonight at 7 p.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK.  The pregame is expected to start at 6:30 p.m.

After not getting the start on short rest last night, Nebraska ace Brett Sears will be on the mound against the Boilermakers, whose ninth inning rally came up short Tuesday in an 8-6 loss to Indiana.
