NU’s New OC Dana Holgorsen Breaks Down His Unit’s Play at USC
In his first meeting with the state’s media Tuesday, Nebraska football’s new offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen was asked about the unit’s performance in last Saturday’s loss at USC.
He praised freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola for processing information. Holgorsen said the offensive line played well. He said the running backs need to “open their eyes, trust their blocks and hit it,” adding after they get through a hole they need to make tacklers miss in the open field.
Holgorsen had challenged the receivers to improve their perimeter blocking, which he called “embarrassing,” and said they responded with their best blocking this season. But, the receivers’ problem against the Trojans was not defeating man coverage. And he noted that, like USC, the Huskers upcoming opponent, Wisconsin, also has a secondary that plays man coverage very well.
Saturday’s kickoff for the Huskers home game against the Badgers is set for 2:30 p.m. The pregame starts at 10:30 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK. It will be joined at 2 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
