Nebraska’s Kate Smith was honored yesterday by the Big Ten as the conference announced its year-end women’s golf honors.

Smith was named first-team All-Big Ten.  The senior from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota also became the first Husker in history to win the conference’s Mary Fossum Award.  It goes to the golfer with the lowest stroke average relative to par during the season.  Smith also claimed NU’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

Smith was on track to earn an NCAA Regional bid in 2020 before COVID-19 brought the season to an end.  She plans to use the additional year of eligibility the NCAA granted seniors and play for Nebraska for a fifth season next year.
