High school fall sports in Nebraska will begin as scheduled, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The NSAA announced yesterday afternoon that first practices for football, volleyball, cross country, girls golf, boys tennis and softball are set to begin August 10th.

The regular season in some sports begins on August 20th.  Most football teams kick off their season on August 28th.

In its release, the NSAA admitted that “modifications may have to be made.”

The organization made a number of health recommendations to its schools in the release.  They included: avoiding interaction with other teams in practices, wearing masks when not in competition, keeping groups small, washing hands and disinfecting equipment regularly and staying home if you don’t feel well or someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19.
