NSAA Board Approves Changes to Expand Girls State Wrestling

The NSAA Board of Directors voted unanimously yesterday to increase the number of weight classes for the girls state wrestling tournament.

The 8-0 vote means the girls will have 14 weight classes, two more than last year.  Another unanimous vote doubled the number of qualifiers in each weight class to 16, the same number as in boys state wrestling.

The board also approved an increase in postseason pay for officials.  With the Lincoln Public Schools reportedly on the verge of adding bowling, the NSAA board will vote next month on creating a Class B in bowling.
