No Nebraska or Creighton baseball players had their names called last night during the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft.  That included NU’s Spencer Schwellenbach, the Big Ten Player of the Year who was considered to be a possible first-round pick.

The Pittsburgh Pirates made Louisville catcher Henry Davis the first overall selection.  Vanderbilt righty Jack Leiter went next to the Texas Rangers.  The Kansas City Royals had the seventh selection and took lefty Frank Mozzicato out of a Connecticut high school.

Rounds 2-10 of the draft will be held today and the final ten rounds will be tomorrow.
