The NCAA men’s and women’s basketball seasons will begin November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving. The Division I Council voted to push the start date back 15 days.
The later start coincides with the decision most schools made to send students home from Thanksgiving until January out of concern about a potential late-fall flareup of COVID-19.
Meantime, a proposed regular season calendar for volleyball would extend from January 22nd to April 10th. And the proposed volleyball postseason tournament would include 48 teams instead of the usual 64.
The proposed Final Four would be played on April 23rd and 25th, but there’s no word yet on whether those matches would still take place in Omaha.
