Nathan Sliva Hired by CHS as Boys Basketball Head Coach

Columbus High has turned to one of its own graduates to be the new head coach of the boys basketball team.

Nathan Sliva was named yesterday to the post which is his first as a head coach.  He takes over for Jordan Hitchcock who resigned recently after three years as the Discoverers head coach to pursue other opportunities.

Sliva, a 2015 graduate of CHS, started his coaching career at Lincoln North Star in 2018.  The next year he was hired by Columbus Public Schools as a Discoverers assistant coach for the basketball, football and baseball teams.  In 2020, Sliva joined Raymond Central and was an assistant coach in basketball and football.

In a CHS news release, Sliva said: “This is a tremendous opportunity to be the head coach of a program with a tradition of excellence.”
