COLUMBUS- The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 30.

On Wednesday at around 6:00 p.m., a semi pulling a grain trailer, operated by 38-year-old Jeremy Mahon of Lynch, was traveling eastbound when he began slowing to turn southbound onto East 59th Avenue. While slowing to make the turn, Mahon’s trailer was struck from behind by a car driven by 79-year-old Raymond Czuba of Columbus. Czuba’s vehicle became disabled in the outside lanes of the highway. A bystander, 22-year-old Jarecsy Medina of Norfolk, stopped her vehicle in the median to render aid when another car driven by 53-year-old Kevin Study of Columbus, was slowing for the accident. As Study’s car was slowing, another vehicle driven by 32-year-old Mariluz Hernandez of Schuyler, struck Study’s vehicle from behind. Hernandez swerved in an attempt to avoid striking Czuba’s disable vehicle. Study’s vehicle then spun and struck Medina’s vehicle that was parked in the median.

All drivers were checked and cleared.
