OMAHA- A volunteer with the Metro Area Assist Program has died while on the job.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Department of Transportation, and Metropolitan Area Planning Agency have announced the passing of 70-year-old John Holcomb, of Omaha. Holcomb was killed in a traffic crash this Thursday on Highway 75 in Omaha, while performing his motorist assist duties. John Holcomb had served in the MAMA program since 2014. During his service, he logged thousands of miles on metro area roadways and assisted countless motorists in need of help.

The other volunteer present at the crash was not injured.
