Matt Rhule Signs 31 Recruits, 12 from Nebraska

Despite only being Nebraska’s head football coach for 24 days, Matt Rhule’s first Husker recruiting class is being regarded as in the top 30 nationally.

Rhule announced the addition of 31 players on signing day.  Of the 27 scholarship additions, 20 were prep recruits and seven were transfers.  There were also four walk-ons.

Twelve Nebraskans signed letters of intent.  That included Lincoln East’s Malachi Coleman, the top-ranked recruit in the state according to ESPN.  Rhule was asked why he focused on in-state players.

“The key to long-term success is for every fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh-grader in the state of Nebraska to grow up dreaming of playing out here (at Memorial Stadium),” Rhule said.

Players from 11 other states signed with NU, including five from Texas and three each from Florida and Pennsylvania.
