Matchups Set for Boys Basketball District Finals

Following last night’s subdistrict finals, the matchups for the boys basketball district finals in Class C and D have been set.  Most locations and all dates and tipoff times for those contests won’t be announced until later today.

In C1, Clarkson/Leigh is the 16th seed and will play at top-seeded Wahoo.  The Patriots defeated Logan View-Scribner-Snyder 44-34 on Thursday.  Central City will visit Auburn in a district final, after the Bison topped Centura 56-45.  In Class C2, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Norfolk Catholic 39-36.  But the 24-1 Bulldogs are one of four wildcard teams and still the number-1 seed.  They’ll meet Maxwell in a district final.  Two area teams will square off in another C2 district final as Cross County will visit Howells-Dodge. Last night the Cougars fell to Heartland 48-47, but still earned a wild card, while the Jaguars downed Wakefield 68-51.

Riverside will face Walthill in a D1 district final.  Trent Carraher hit nine 3-pointers and scored 34 points last night to lead the Chargers past High Plains 76-32. In D2, Osceola will take on BDS in a district final.  The Bulldogs are a wild card despite losing 63-60 in a subdistrict final to Parkview Christian.  That’s the same team that beat Humphrey St. Francis in that subdistrict’s semifinals.  But, the Flyers still made the district finals as a wildcard and will face the Patriots in a rematch.
