Man Arrested In Norfolk After Threatening To Detonate Explosive Device
NORFOLK- A Battle Creek man has been arrested in Norfolk after threatening to detonate an explosive device.
On Thursday around 2:00pm, authorities responded to a report of two people being held hostage in a car by a male subject. The caller said the male subject was threatening to detonate a partial stick of dynamite that was in his possession inside the vehicle. The caller said they were communicating electronically with a female passenger in the vehicle and stated the vehicle was traveling southbound into Norfolk. Madison County Sheriff’s deputies intercepted the vehicle near 13th and Eisenhower and initiated a traffic stop at 13th and Maple. A male subject was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. Two females, the driver and a passenger, were also removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded an explosive device. 37-year-old Kelly Red Tomahawk was arrested for Terroristic Threats and False Imprisonment.
Residents in the area of the 1200 block of Maple Avenue were asked to evacuate during the scene investigation as a precaution.
