COLUMBUS- A man was taken into custody Wednesday after a chase with police through Columbus.

Wednesday morning Columbus Police were advised of a vehicle that had been involved in an incident in Butler County. It was reported that a suspect in the vehicle also had an active warrant. At 2:29 p.m. officers observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled and led officers on a pursuit east of 8th St., then back into Columbus covering areas primarily through the southeast and south portions of Columbus. Officers maintained contact with the vehicle till it stopped just south of 21st Ave. and 1st St. The suspect then fled on foot into a wooded area. With the assistance of the Columbus K9 unit, the suspect, 23-year-old Cole Shatto, was taken into custody without further incident.

Shatto was arrested for a Platte County Warrant, willful reckless driving and use of a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
