Loup Power, NPPD Warn Of Scams

COLUMBUS- Loup Power District and Nebraska Public Power District are warning customers to be on guard against phone calls from scammers.

Several customers of both companies have reported receiving phone calls from scammers threatening to disconnect the electricity due to past-due balances. These scammers often use caller ID spoofing so that it appears that the call is coming from Loup or NPPD from a local phone number. Never give personal information to an unknown caller or visitor. Loup and NPPD representatives have access to the details they need to service your account. Demands for immediate payment by wire transfer, cryptocurrency, gift cards or cash reload cards should immediately raise red flags.

If you think you’ve been contacted by a scammer falsely representing either company, hang up and call your local Power District office.
