Local Trainers Hughes, Sloup Earn Statewide Honors

Columbus Community Hospital athletic trainer Brooke Hughes has been recognized as the 2022 Athletic Trainer of the Year. 

Hughes received the award earlier this month from the Nebraska State Athletic Trainer’s Association.  A graduate of Lakeview High and UNO, Hughes joined the hospital as a certified athletic trainer in 2014.  She currently provides services for Columbus High School and Columbus Middle School. 

At the same time as Hughes’ recognition, Mike Sloup received an award for his 25 years of service to the trainer’s association.  He has been with the Columbus hospital since 2003 and provides services to Lakeview High.
