Lincoln Man Shot At Fonner Park Horse Stables

GRAND ISLAND- A Lincoln man has died after a gunshot wound at Fonner Park Horse Stables.

On Thursday at 10:00a.m. Grand Island Police were called to Fonner Park horse stables for a male found not conscious or breathing. Officers on scene found a deceased male in one of the “tack” rooms in Barn R. The male, 62-year-old Todd Scherer of Lincoln, had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the torso. A person of interest was quickly identified with the help from other Law Enforcement partners and witnesses in the horse community coming forward. The person, 20-year-old Logan Horse Hunts from Wounded Knee, SD, was located asleep in another “tack” room in the same building. Hunts was arrested and logged at the Hall County Dept. of Corrections.
