LINCOLN- The Nebraska Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have approved the necessary documents for the Lincoln South Beltway project to advance on to the official procurement process.

The NDOT has started soliciting bids from contractors with a deadline of December 12. Following the Department’s analysis of the bids, an award will be made to support a 2020 construction start date.

NDOT says the Lincoln South Beltway will improve regional connectivity by creating an east to west four-lane freeway south of Lincoln, linking Highway 77 and North Highway 2.
