Libbie Brezenski’s Hat Trick, Hartman’s Two Goals Spark Scotus

Libbie Brezenski had a hat trick and Lacie Hartman scored two goals as Scotus beat Grand Island Northwest 5-1 in yesterday’s opening round of the Class B girls state soccer tournament.

The Shamrocks were leading 1-0 late in the first half when they scored three goals within two-minutes-and-11 seconds to take control of the match.  The win was the first for Scotus in the state tournament since 2017.  It was the Shamrocks’ 15th straight victory this season, upping their record to 16-2.

In Saturday’s semifinals, Scotus will take on top-seeded and defending champion Skutt Catholic.  The SkyHawks downed Elkhorn North 7-1 yesterday, as Skutt improved to 15-2 with its tenth straight win.  Saturday’s kickoff at Morrison Stadium is set for Noon.  Play-by-play will be broadcast on KLIR 101.
