Team USA women’s volleyball knocked off Italy in five sets yesterday at the Tokyo Olympics.  Former Husker Jordan Larson had 12 kills to rank third on the U.S., while Nebraska product Justine Wong-Orantes had a match-high 14 digs.

With the victory, the Americans finished pool play with a 4-1 record and guaranteed them a spot in the quarterfinals, which begin tomorrow.  The only loss in pool play for the U.S. came last Friday in a 3-0 defeat to Russia.

Meanwhile, former Husker Sarah Pavan had eight kills and seven blocks for Canada in a 2-0 win over Spain in women’s beach volleyball.  Canada improved to 4-0 in Tokyo with all four wins coming in a sweep.  Canada will take on Australia in the quarterfinals tomorrow morning.
