Lakeview’s Legion Baseball Clubs Post Wins Over Pender

Lakeview’s Senior Legion baseball team gave up a lead in the top of the sixth, but rallied in the bottom half of the inning to beat Pender 7-6 Sunday evening at Pawnee Park’s Legion Field. 

Bank of the Valley scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.  But, Pender scored four runs in the sixth to go up 6-4, before Lakeview rallied for three runs in the home half of the deciding frame.  Eli Kreikemeier pitched an inning-and-a-third of hitless relief to get the win.  Lakeview left fielder Jonathon Hoffart went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and one run. 

The Seniors are now 5-4 and will play at Wakefield Wednesday night. 

In Sunday’s Juniors game, Karstan Killham and Braedyn Ramaekers pitched Lakeview to an 8-1 victory.  Killham allowed one run on two hits over five innings, striking out seven Pender batters without issuing a walk.  Ramaekers finished with two hitless frames, notching two strikeouts. 

The Juniors moved to 6-2.  They’ll host Pierce in a 7 p.m. contest tonight.
