Lakeview Seniors Stay Alive in Area Tourney With Win vs. Twin River

The Lakeview Bank of the Valley Seniors have battled back for two straight wins after losing in their first postseason game.

Playing in the B5 area tournament at West Point, fourth-seeded Lakeview was edged by Battle Creek Friday evening, as the No. 3 seed scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 walk-off win. A night later, Bank of the Valley rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to knock off top-seeded Wayne 4-3.

Meanwhile, No. 5 seed Twin River was blanked by host and second-seeded West Point 8-0 Friday, before rebounding to beat No. 6 O’Neill 9-4 Saturday in an elimination game.  Lakeview eliminated the Titans Sunday, as Karsten Killham allowed just one run on one hit in a 4-1 victory.

Bank of the Valley improved to 10-7 on the year and will play Tuesday against the winner of tonight’s game between Wayne and West Point.
