Lakeview Seniors Stave Off Challenge, Juniors Win by Shutout

The Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors were challenged last night for the first time this season, but managed to win at Arlington 6-4 and improve to 11-0. 

In their first 10 games, Lakeview’s smallest margin of victory was eight runs, which had happened twice.  Sam Kwapnioski hit a solo homer and finished last night’s contest by tossing two innings of scoreless relief. 

In the early game, Caleb Cameron and Taylor Cooney combined on a four-hit shutout. leading the Owens Wealth Advisors Lakeview Junior Reds to an 8-0 win.  Cameron fired six scoreless innings and also had two hits and three RBI.  Cooney did not allow a hit in the seventh.  The win upped the Junior Reds’ record to 7-5. 

Lakeview’s teams host Ponca this evening at 5:30 and 8 p.m.  It’s Veterans Appreciation Night at Pawnee Park Legion Field.  Veterans will enjoy a free hot dog, popcorn and a bottle of water. 

Also on tonight’s Legion baseball schedule, the One United Federal Credit Union Columbus Junior Blues will play a doubleheader at Norfolk.
