Lakeview Seniors Ousted From State Tourney by Waverly

The postseason run ended for Lakeview’s Senior Legion baseball team with a 14-6 loss to Waverly in the Class B state tournament.

In a matchup of 3-1 teams on championship Wednesday, Waverly scored 11 runs in the second inning to take a commanding 12-1 lead.  Bank of the Valley battled back to cut the deficit to 13-6, before Waverly used an RBI single in the fifth inning for the walk-off, mercy-rule win.

It was Lakeview’s second loss in as many meetings against Waverly in the tourney at Broken Bow.  In between, Lakeview won three times to go 3-2 at state, after going 2-2 a year ago.  Bank of the Valley compiled a 24-3 overall record this season.

Waverly advanced to Wednesday’s championship game against Norris-Hickman, which prevailed 6-5 to win its second straight Class B title.
