The Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors open their season tonight at Wisner, before hosting Central City tomorrow night at Pawnee Park Field.  Both games have an 8 p.m. first pitch.

Head coach Brach Johnson says his club “returns a solid nucleus of players from a team that was five outs away from going to the state tournament last season.”

Johnson says the Lakeview seniors’ biggest strength should be its offense.  He says “there’s no weakness in this year’s batting lineup” with Evan Tessendorf, Caden Pelan, Eric Mustard, Haustyn Forney and Layne Forney leading the way at the plate.

Johnson expects good things from his pitching staff with Ian Gibbs, Pelan, Tessendorf, and Colton Korth the leaders on the mound. He also expects his club’s outfield to be “very solid on defense.”

In other Legion baseball season openers tonight, the Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors are slated to host Fremont in a doubleheader.  First pitch of the opening game at Pawnee Park Field is set for 5:30 p.m.  The Columbus United Federal Credit Union Junior Blues open with a single 5:30 p.m. contest at Waverly.  It’s also a 5:30 p.m. first pitch tonight for the Owens Wealth Advisors Lakeview Junior Reds’ game at Wisner.
