Lakeview Routs Hickman in Senior Legion Class B State Tourney

Lakeview scored seven runs in the second inning en route to a 15-6 win in six innings over Hickman last night in the Senior Legion Class B state tournament.  The Bank of the Valley Seniors handed the defending champions their first loss of the tourney in Broken Bow with both teams advancing to the final day of action today.

Lakeview leadoff batter Adam Van Cleave was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI.  Brenden Sloup had two hits, three RBI and scored twice.  On the mound, Jordan Kracl worked a complete game.  He was one out away from recording a 10-2 win in five innings, before yielding a grand slam that made it 10-6.  After an injury on a play at first base, Hickman was playing with only eight players on the field as Lakeview iced the game with five runs in the top of the sixth.

Today, Bank of the Valley plays at 1 p.m. against Waverly, which beat Lakeview 8-5 in Saturday’s opening round.  You can hear the game on 93.5 The Hawk. If Lakeview wins, The Hawk will also air the championship game against Hickman, starting around 4 p.m.
