Lakeview, Central City, SOS Advance to State Tournaments

The Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors advanced to the American Legion Baseball Class B state tournament. Lakeview shut out Wayne 9-0 in the championship game of the B5 area tournament last night.
Pitchers Jordan Kracl, Jacob Sjuts and Kolby Blaser combined on a three-hitter, while Sam Kwapnioski and Adam Van Cleave each drove in three runs, as Lakeview won its second straight meeting against the tourney’s host team. Bank of the Valley went 3-0 in the tournament and will take a 15-2 record into the state tourney at Crete.
It begins Saturday, with Lakeview facing Central City. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. and you can hear the play-by-play on 93.5 The Hawk. Central City punched its ticket to state by edging Waverly 3-2 in Tuesday’s B4 area championship. It came after Waverly out-slugged host Wahoo 23-16 in nine innings earlier in the evening. Central City went 4-1 in the area tournament.
In Class C, Shelby-Osceola-Stromsburg is heading to the state tourney in Palmer. SOS went 4-0 in the C4 area tournament, downing Utica-Beaver Crossing 12-9 in last night’s title tilt.
