After a 10-0 start to the season, the Owens Wealth Advisors Lakeview Junior Reds have finally come up against an opponent trickier to beat.  In an email, Reds head coach Travis Tessendorf wrote that a Lakeview player came down with some symptoms associated with COVID-19 Friday night.

Tessendorf says the unidentified player, who played for both the Junior Reds and Lakeview Seniors is feeling fine but is getting tested today.  Lakeview’s teams cannot play until the test results are in, so both the Junior Reds and Seniors home games against Albion this evening have been canceled.

The Juniors stayed unbeaten last Friday with a 12-0 victory at Tekamah-Herman.  Jordan Kracl and Jacob Sjuts combined on the four-hitter for the Reds’ fifth shutout in ten games.

Meantime, the Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors suffered their third one-run loss in five games Friday in Tekamah, dropping a 9-8 decision.  But, Lakeview bounced back by sweeping a home twinbill on Saturday, blasting O’Neill by scores of 16-7 and 17-7.  Lakeview’s Layne Forney had four RBI in the opener and Eli Osten homered and drove in five runs in the nightcap.  The Seniors improved to 8-6.
