Kernels Bow to Malcolm at State, Play DC West Today
Central City/Centura suffered a 7-0 loss to defending state champion Malcolm in Monday’s second round of the Class C state baseball tournament.
Clippers starter Maddox Meyer held the Kernels to four singles and a walk, with 11 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. The Malcolm senior was pitching at Omaha’s Tal Anderson Field, where he’ll be working next year for the UNO Mavericks.
The loss dropped the Kernels to 18-8 overall and 1-1 at state.
Central City/Centura has a rematch with DC West, a team they defeated 4-0 last Saturday, in an elimination game today. First pitch at Papillion-La Vista South High is set for 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KZ-100.
