Junior Blues Bow to LNS, Junior Reds Open State Tourney Friday

The Columbus OneNebraska Junior Blues let a late lead slip away last night in a 5-4 loss in six innings at Lincoln North Star. 

The Junior Blues were up 4-0 after four frames, but North Star rallied for a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth.  The Junior Blues wound up the regular season with a 14-10 record.  Coach Travis McCloud says they’ll be the No. 1 seed in their area tournament, which begins next Friday. 

Meanwhile, the Columbus Owens Wealth Advisors Junior Reds will open play in their state tournament at Elkhorn tomorrow.  The bracket for the tourney involving Junior teams in reserve leagues was released yesterday.  Columbus will play tomorrow at 5 p.m. against the winner of today’s 5 p.m. play-in game between two Millard clubs.
