Nebraska’s number-two running back, freshman Ajay Allen, is out for the season after suffering an undisclosed injury.
Huskers interim coach Mickey Joseph made that announcement when meeting with the media yesterday. Joseph said Allen’s injury “is going to hurt us,” but added that Gave Ervin Jr. “is a back capable of getting it done.”
Asked about his decision to fire defensive coordinator Erik Chinander, Joseph called Chinander a “good man” but said “the numbers did not add up” and he added: “I did not see us getting better.”
Joseph said the Huskers are concentrating on fundamentals during this bye week, which he admitted the team needed “to reset.”
Nebraska will host Indiana next Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for Homecoming.
