John Butler Promoted by Rhule to Defensive Coordinator

John Butler has been named Nebraska’s defensive coordinator.

NU announced Tuesday night Butler will be the permanent replacement for Tony White, who left for the same gig at Florida State.  Butler joined the Huskers’ staff last July as secondary coach and has 30 years of coaching experience.  Before coming to Lincoln, he was a defensive assistant with the Buffalo Bills for six years and previously worked two seasons at Penn State, where he was defensive coordinator in 2013.

ESPN also reported two more coaches will likely be hired by Nebraska.  Phil Snow, who has been a consultant late this season, will become associate head coach and Terry Bradden, an assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs, will be hired as defensive line coach.  That spot was vacated recently by Terrance Knighton, who followed White to the Seminoles.
