The other horseshoe has dropped and the probability of no live horse races at Ag Park this year has become a certainty.

The Nebraska Racing Commission has given tracks in Columbus and Lincoln unanimous approval to cancel their meets due to COVID-19.  The races at Ag Park had been slated for weekends throughout June, with a three-day meet in Lincoln to follow.

The tracks received waivers allowing them to simulcast next year despite not holding races this year.

Thanks to simulcasting revenues, Fonner Park in Grand Island has been able to have live races this year.  Fonner’s season, without live spectators since late March, will conclude tomorrow.
