Hutmacher Named to Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List

Nebraska defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list on Monday. 

The Bednarik Award is presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football. 

Hutmacher was an anchor of NU’s defense in 2023, as the Blackshirts ranked in the top 20 nationally in total, scoring and rushing defense.  He started all 12 games and had 40 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, along with 4.5 sacks.  The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder earned All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and media. 

Hutmacher also joined the Husker wrestling team as a heavyweight and qualified for the NCAA wrestling championships.
