Huskers Starting Kicker Spot Still a Competition

The position of starting kicker for Nebraska’s football team is still a competition, according to special teams coordinator Ed Foley.

Sophomore kicker Tristan Alvano is coming back from a groin injury.  Foley thinks he’ll be ready for the Huskers’ season opener on August 31st.  “I would say Tristan’s probably 90% right now,” Foley said Tuesday.

John Hohl is competing with Alvano.  Foley says “both guys are making a lot of their kicks.”

Nebraska hosts UTEP next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The pregame starts at 10:30 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 2 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
